In the Name of Jesus!!

It has been 2000 years, about 24,000 months, about 100,000 weeks and 50,000 fortnights since Jesus Christ left. His impression on history is still fresh and his teachings have been assiduously preserved. There is little doubt that Jesus has been the most influential character of all time, his heritage dwarfs Socrates, Plato and even Alexander the great. Jesus was never a soldier but he conquered more than any army in History. Some claim Jesus was God, I do not want to go into the Philosophy of his divinity because it is not really my competence. I just want to explore one thing, what is it about Jesus?

In the name of Jesus, nations have been changed, crowns have fallen and wars have been fought. Jesus has hard an overwhelming influence on the politics of this world. Nations have been founded based on his teachings and principalities have fallen based on this very name. Jesus has been the centerpiece of History; his name is the foundation stone of modern society and his teachings the fabric of the value systems of most modern constitutions. All this sounds impressive but I have issues. The name of Jesus has catalysed more suffering than any other name, In the name of Jesus there were the crusades, In the name of Jesus there was the inquisition and in the name of Jesus wars have been fought. I am not blaming Jesus for this but I want to raise a few hard questions that have caused tumultuous troubles in my mind.

Jesus was never a soldier but he conquered more than any army in History. Some claim Jesus was God, I do not want to go into the Philosophy of his divinity because it is not really my competence...Every time I think of getting salvaged by the “redeeming” blood of Jesus, my intellect resists it... I have always seen prayer as a feminine thing. Men who pray have always looked diminished in my eyes, praying is a sign of weakness...

Why Jesus? Is Jesus really for the thinking man? Is faith intelligible?

Many have read my discussions of religion in the past, I am sure many of you expect a diarrhea of blasphemous remarks. No, I am a bit more mature than that, I want to raise a sober debate rather than pointless Rambling. By now it is concisely clear that I am not an especially religious person. I live by my own code completely devoid of God. I don’t attend church and I don’t pray. This sounds abnormal to many but I am used to it and so far it’s good. I have issues with the Christian faith and the Christian fraternity as a whole. Every time I think of getting salvaged by the “redeeming” blood of Jesus, my intellect resists it. I find Christians and Christianity to be an oversimplified version of reality. Faith in Jesus Christ has always looks unintelligent and lacking intellect. I have always seen Christians as lacking intellectual stimulation, their world is all about unquestioned faith, singing endless praise and relentlessly praying. I have always seen prayer as a feminine thing. Men who pray have always looked diminished in my eyes. I am of a view that as a man I should handle my own issues, praying is a sign of weakness, off course many of you will find that debatable but that is just how I see it.

I have always felt nauseated by the endless proclamations of love in the Christian faith. It makes me very uncomfortable when people tell me that Jesus loves me, I have always felt that love is something used to manipulate people. People tell you they love you when they want something from you. You are told Jesus loves you when your pastor wants to fleece you. Jesus always loves you just before the offering, the love of Jesus is the easiest way to lure the money out of people’s pockets, it is easy to think of Jesus as a Pick-Pocket. Worst of all, I find the issue of professing Love for Jesus to be quite Gay; I would not profess Love for a male publicly because it is the most basic indication of a queer disposition. If Jesus had been a female, maybe it would be more acceptable to me, but let us face it, the Christian faith is very chauvinistic.

ask them that proclaim the same, why they do so! it is not that faith lacks sense, but that its wisdom, is so profound, that human intellect is reduced to an infinitely diminished entity to ever formulate the wholesomeness of salvation! was it not a great intellect of worldly arena and a humanist Emmanuel Kant, who said, things of metaphysical proposition, cannot fall under the bracket of sense? and in actual wording he says that he "is awed by the stary horse above, and the moral laws within"? and all that can be summed up if one understand the proper concept of sin, its spiritual impact and the whole being of mine. only when you embrace this great knowledge shall you then understand the magnificence of the cross at Calvary, and the choice of death and suffering associated with the cross, besides the hope! but rather than traveling the entire orbit to come to this truth, the very voice of Jesus tells you, just believe in me, and I will personally teach you all truths! that is key! and what distinct Jesus from all other titles and influentials, is His living personality, and His intimate reach to individuals who have sought Him with diligence! I must not brush your intellectual approach but what am only pointing at, is that this knowledge of Christ Jesus is so infinite, that human mind on its own cannot fathom! am an intellectual too! but when it comes to a personal life, I won't blaspheme to say that He has been real in my undertaking! far much beyond what reason can formulate! from life anew, through successes and even to this great knowledge of God, in salvation of mankind! does it seem too simple to be true? that is how it is! because no man could afford the price so enormous! so God became man in the person of Jesus, to pay the price of sin, and transgression that was tagged on man! eternal death, could only be paid by the eternal! nothing else!

It's amazing how it's possible to fathom the whole concept of creation to the afterlife (basically everything) yet barely a fraction of humans understand human anatomy fully, or how phones work, how medicine works, internet among many other things,in combination virtually impossible to understand alone....things that take us years to specialise in and lead us to usually choose a small branch from a wide field of which we can hardly solely understand in a lifetime....my point? When someone tells you about the soul and the afterlife with extreme certainity often discrediting the knowledge we've gone to school to learn through stories about defying physics, biology among other things we strain our 'limited' minds to defy in our present age -doesn't it foster curiousity? Have these people really done extensive studies on the soul or are they naturally gifted in explaining how humans should lead their lives? I understand alot of things, telling me to choose to believe in something on the basis on it's incomprehensibility or your assumed ability of my inability to understand is absurd. More like saying choose ignorance because it's virtually impossible to learn everything. Jesus is a character jus like Harry Potter who can be quoted a thousand years later from now with no proof to credit the truth of his existance. Manipulation preys using fear, guilt, lies and ignorance. Christianity has fear of hell, guilt of sin,no knowledge of what happens after life(ignorance),parting the Red sea and talking snakes(lies)....think about it....what's religion without fear, guilt and your ignorance spiced up with lies?

great discoveries were made through simple things, and it is through simple things that complexities are woven and interwoven. It is therefore through simple methods that complex issues can be solved, not by complicated methods. As an up and coming scientist, I have been observing how The LORD God Almighty did create the world from scratch from the ground upwards using simple elements!I have also learnt not to question the Character of God, but to patiently learn from it, carefully researching it and comparing it to His massive generosity to His beautiful creation.I need no other argument, I need no other plea; it is enough that Jesus is LORD, and that the Law of God is just, fair and utterly indispensable!

Seriously? Not to question the character of God. It's in our nature to question things we don't understand, that's how we come up with solution. Not asking questions is basically training yourself to live in ignorance. It's an amazing age where we fly to the moon and talk to people thousands of miles away, debate about comatose people, talk about drugs that enhance our abilities,radiation...that's barely the whole tip of the iceberg. Thing that the bible and most religions can't solve. Getting answers to guide your life from people who lived 2000 years ago who thought the world was flat, that leprous people should be thrown out of society, that slavery is normal and waging war against non-believers was righteous(even children)....Don't do yourself injustice eating up extortionist lies. Accept your ignorance and try to learn. Stop living in guilt for your natural in-born desires. Stop thinking of the after-life too much and really live your life as fully as you can.

Everybody(incuding you) is entitled to their own opinion about anything. Can you please add this questions to your list of tough questions : What is the source of life?, how did religion start?, what about the ancient bible scrolls that have been discovered by archaelogists?, why is there such a coincidence of a book written over 2 centuries ago with the things hapening today? and last but not least......do you have the right to condemn something you have not tried, because it means that you have no truth in anything you are saying...try it and then you will be right to condemn!!!!!!!!!

Everyone's entitled to their opinion bt not as much as you would think or we'd be livin in anarchy. We have created systems and choose to ignore the minority in decision making(they're entitled too you say?). Systems that you must go through to get anywhere in life...like identity cards...one sure thing is that your're not given a choice about having an ID...try forgetting it at home. Opinion doesn matter. Practical living does, fuck opinion...some crazy person will tell you about witchcraft and about going round some tree 7 times in the nude for a sex change....they're entitled to their opinion i might agree on that. But i refuse to let them decide how my society will be run or to affect those i consider close to me based on their idiotic thoughts. I'm not trying to help you here but trying to save myself from being bullshitted by some stranger who'll try preaching to me or my kid. I have enough worries of islamist trying to blow me up on the basis of their holy book. People who lived 2 thousand years ago didn't even have a clue bout what DNA is....they didnt know shit bout how we came to exist. For all i care bad weather meant their gods were angry...epilepsy meant you're possessed. You're african, hopefully,if anything you should be telling me bout your community's traditional beliefs but if you chose to ignore it then you're being an outrightly dimwit.Dude there's a saying that goes, learning something is hard bt unlearning is even harder. Try unlearning and give yourself the credit you deserve in your ability to reason about life. It's not mystical or beyond your understanding like they tell you 'God' is. I promise you if you really try you'll understand most life situations. Don't waste such a magnificent mind eating up lies spawned by catholic church to get money 4rm the masses. The world is no longer flat and they're no four corner of the world. Nothing that was predicted is coming to play in real sense, fill a book up in misleading ambiguity and you'll always point at something and twist it to fit a theory. A prediction is more like...tomorrow at 2 it will rain...Not tomorrow at around 2 there will be an uncomfortable weather for some people...see the second statement, that's how religion is.The trademark should be:connin people since 1BC. Be courageous and ask those forbidden questions that they tell you not to ask. Refuse to give your pastor offering and help the really needy. Enjoy your sundays and wake up late to watch whatever movies make you happy and curse out loud when you hurt your hand or lose at something. Enjoy life it's ticking away.
