Gaddafi’s Problem with Rats

It was quite sobering to contemplate that the end has come for Africa’s most charismatic dictator. A few months ago it was impossible to imagine a world without Gaddafi; his perennial eccentric gimmicks were a feat to behold. Don’t get it that I was an ardent supporter of Gaddafi, I have never been a supporter of leaders who stay in power like they were born there. What I am trying to demonstrate is that Gaddafi’s gimmicks were a sad portrayal of the dysfunctional state of Libyan Governance.

Ronald Reagan called Gaddafi the mad Dog of the Middle East. Many may think that this was painfully malicious of Reagan but the truth is that Gaddafi truly was a first rate retard. Many people in Africa imagined that Gaddafi was a benevolent leader who had turned Libya into a jewel of prosperity and affluence. Many Kenyans I know always had a romantic view of Gaddafi as a hero who had liberated his nation from despair and Western domination. Unfortunately this is a flawed perception as History would illustrate. In reality Gaddafi was a deranged retard who led his country in a dysfunctional way. To begin with Gaddafi had no official title in the state; Gaddafi did not have any legitimate position in the structure of things. Gaddafi existed amorphously in the system like he was God. Basically Libya lived at the Mercies of Gaddafi for 42 years.

It does not take a psychiatrist to realize Gaddafi was mentally bankrupt; in fact at one time he wanted to abolish the Libyan currency and run a moneyless economy. Apparently Gaddafi thought that the Laws of economics were merely suggestions, but do I say?...

The above is a rather shallow exegesis that does not give enough validation for my revulsion of Gaddafi. Let me try creating some rudimentary sort of background and perspective. Let me try to illustrate what kind of person Gaddafi was. To begin with Gaddafi had a face that was remarkably exiguous, in plebeian language his face stood out. Let me disclose that Gaddafi’s face was not actually natural. Gaddafi had his face cosmetically altered so that people would not know when he was happy or angry, so now you know Gaddafi went on to modify his face to conceal his expressions, which Is just the beginning of the distinction of Gaddafi’s mental deficiency. It does not take a psychiatrist to realize Gaddafi was mentally bankrupt; in fact at one time he wanted to abolish the Libyan currency and run a moneyless economy. Apparently Gaddafi thought that the Laws of economics were merely suggestions, but do I say?

I understand, you think that the above narrated are just a convoluted sense of humour. I am sure you would like to imagine that Gaddafi was a prolific connoisseur of comical presentation but I should say he was not an actor as some might imagine. Gaddafi had an extreme sense of Paranoia. In the mind of Gaddafi everybody was trying to kill him, for 42 years Gaddafi never slept in the same place for two nights in a row, he never slept at the same time on any two nights. He lived in a tent in the middle of a military camp.

The saddest thing about the Gaddafi regime is that Gaddafi was a contradiction. Gaddafi always portrayed himself as a humble leader who lived very frivolously in a traditional Bedouin tent, but the truth is that Gaddafi was more flamboyant than the simple canvas he slept in. His family lived in untold opulence though he always encouraged Libya’s elite to live life in the Backgrounds. Gaddafi’s sons lived sedentary lives with them inviting top western celebrities for private performances in their houses. Gaddafi contradicted the Islamic fundamentals he always postulated with impunity. Gaddafi was the personification of hypocrisy, arrogance and indifference. He led his country to isolation and acrimony with many western Nations. At the peak he attempted to perpetuate a United African state where he would be supreme yet he wasn’t even wanted at home. Gaddafi called his opponents and resistors rats on every occasion, but eventually he himself ended up hiding underground like a mole and today he died with ultimate indignity. I guess a thousand rats did overwhelmed a solitary lion.

The first , The Best and The only...

Quietly she sleeps, I stand besides the bed, staring in admiration, tenderness and pride. Her face the most endearing thing in the world, her body the most inviting and her smile, the most disarming. Her skin smooth, like a baby's bottom. Her complexion unblemished and delicately preserved. She is the one and the only, My pride and my lady. I am complete.

"For her my life is a promise. A promise to keep going and to never stop, A promise to hold on at any cost, A commitment to Never compromise No Matter what. A promise to be true and never lie, A promise to live for her and Nothing else. I will give her the best and Nothing less."

I was conquered, I fought and I fell. I am weak and she is strong. She is lovely and I am in love, She is gracious and I am charmed, She is majestic and I am bewitched. She is mine and I am proud. She is my lady and I will stand.

She is the one, The lady of my dreams. Her eyes inspire me, her smile disarms me and in her embrace I am lost. For her my life is a promise. A promise to keep going and to never stop, A promise to hold on at any cost, A commitment to Never compromise No Matter what. A promise to be true and never lie, A promise to live for her and Nothing else. I will give her the best and Nothing less.

In the dead of nights, when the stars blink, The moon yawns and the wind does its mischief, there shall be fires but No smoke. There shall be screams but no tears, There shall be moans but No pain. Her warmth shall be my treasure, She will be tender and I will be hard. She will be beautiful and I will be up, She will be ecstatic and I will subdue her. The avatar shall conquer as she moans. She will scream and I will bellow, She will sigh and I will grind. We shall get to the top and then it shall be cold.

I am only a man because she is mine, I am sane only when she loves me, I am alive only when she is my arms, I am on the throne when she smiles. To me she is the first, The best and The only, If she is not Then I am dead.

The disjointed legacy of Mwai Kibaki.

Time erodes fast, its hard to believe its 9 years since Kibaki took office as Kenya’s third President. I am astounded at how much time has passed; it’s barely believable that Kibaki took office when I was a Primary school pupil!! As this presidency winds up it is imperative that we confront the question of its appraisal. We must ask ourselves critical questions and hold the outgoing regime accountable to Judgment and review at least for the sake of depositing a verdict to the annals of history. What is the Hallmark of The Kibaki Presidency? What is the most defining element of this presidency? What has Kibaki left in his account of Legacy? How does the Kibaki Presidency fare compared to his predecessors?

To me Kibaki is possibly the only person in history who I admire deeply and am appalled with all the same time. I admire Kibaki’s Calm wit but I despise his sardonic indifference. Kibaki to me seems tactful on one hand and elitist on the other hand. Kibaki to me appears to be a an unctuous and rather pretentious fellow, Kibaki cuts the image of an isolationist elite, the kind who play golf and meet for characteristically esoteric social discourses in somber clubhouses

Kibaki became president under circumstances few presidents have ever had to. Kibaki had been involved in a near fatal accident just weeks before the polls. Few have ever conceded this but I have always felt that the man who became President was not the man people voted for. I am not alleging a conspiracy that gave us a “fake” head of state, but the truth of the matter is that Kibaki was never the same after the Accident. The Accident impaired Kibaki in a way that we have not yet dared to consider. Kibaki was a very prolifically eloquent speaker before the Accident; Kibaki had an intellectual candour and refinement that was unprecedented in the politics of this country and that of Africa as well. After all Kibaki was an especially gifted scholar of some of the most esteemed institutions in the world like the Prestigious London of School of Economics. Up until the time of the accident Kibaki was a very distinguished speaker with an expressive vigour that was opulently elegant. Unfortunately as Head of state Kibaki has cut the image of being aloof and dissociated from events and occurrences and his public addresses most of the time sound gibberish and ill composed, his impaired speeches have inspired a lot of Ridicule.

Kibaki is possible the most slippery character you could ever have. Kibaki is the Kind of person who is cordial with all but holds none dear. This blanket and hollow conviviality is best illustrated by the Githongo dossiers. Githongo was very close with the President and he largely felt that Kibaki was strongly behind his war in graft but Githongo came to learn that the enthusiasm was apparent. He learnt that Kibaki was just being polite. Predictably, I would like to mention that it is very hard to know where Kibaki stands on most issues. Kibaki has a rather evasive approach to issues and likes to play his cards only in the shadows and in the depths, This of course is best illustrated by his conspicuous silence on vying for a second term until the very last minute.

Some have considered Kibaki a coward, in fact Matiba a former ally in the KANU regime is remembered to have called him keguoya-a kikuyu term for Coward. Some have apportioned Kibaki infamy for his rather unconvincing response to the death of JM Kariuki. It is hard to deny that Kibaki has always been very careful in his actions. Kibaki as a person always places a premium on survival, he is the kind of person who never ruffles feathers, and his has always been a strategy of passive aggression though of course this might sound like an insult to some. To me Kibaki is a sagaciously shrewd politician with an adept aptitude for strategy. Unlike many, Kibaki treats issues rather unemotionally and he tackles issues very cognitively. As a conclusion to the allegations of his cowardice, I would say Kibaki is a gentle river; it carves gorges out of Massive rocks without ever making a farce about it.

As a President Kibaki shall always elicit mixed reactions. To me Kibaki is possibly the only person in history who I admire deeply and am appalled with all the same time. I admire Kibaki’s Calm wit but I despise his sardonic indifference. Kibaki to me seems tactful on one hand and elitist on the other hand. Kibaki to me appears to be a an unctuous and rather pretentious fellow, Kibaki cuts the image of an isolationist elite, the kind who play golf and meet for characteristically esoteric social discourses in somber clubhouses.

As a presidency, Kibaki’s tenure has lacked a defining aspect. It has been a disjointed era, on the one hand there has been a near spectacular economic revival and on the other there has been a near catastrophic political crisis. Kibaki has been a good steward of affairs but a poor leader. Kibaki’s evasive leadership has generated a chaotic political scene that has left the Nation more divided than it has ever been. Kibaki’s regime has been one of tolerance and sadly it has proven rather conducive for corruption and Tribalism. Kibaki took over when Kenya was more united than it had ever been but he has left Kenya more divided than it has ever been. Then again, Kibaki’s accident left him changed, maybe all these has been ailment rather than a failure

It is Time we bought a rope.

Recently somebody engaged me about the Death Penalty on its morality or its lack of morality. To say the truth I have always been a bit torn about the death Penalty, I have always had mixed feelings about it but it’s not because of the morality of it.

I find the death penalty to lack the X factor. Hanging has no element of surprise, it lacks the Artistic detail. It is a rather unceremonious way to end a criminal’s life. Death is the most important moment in any ones life and everybody deserves a Ceremonial and dramatic death, especially a criminal. The death of a criminal should be a climax to the life of crime. The death of a criminal should be a camera moment

To me the death Penalty is a bit too cumbersome, there is a very long process before the Hangman is assigned a neck. There has to be numerous trials, numerous appeals, a Mercy Tribunal and then a President has to append a signature. This is a rather uneconomical procedure just to squeeze the neck of a convict. The problem of course is the procedure not the Hanging.

The other problem with the death penalty is its nature. Some think that the death penalty is too cruel and uncivilized. Others think its value as punishment is nil since there is no lesson learnt as the convict does not survive a hanging, but that is a little inconvenience. Look at this way, Life imprisonment does not teach any lessons either, does it?

I find the death penalty to lack the X factor. Hanging has no element of surprise, it lacks the Artistic detail. It is a rather unceremonious way to end a criminal’s life. Death is the most important moment in any ones life and everybody deserves a Ceremonial and dramatic death, especially a criminal. The death of a criminal should be a climax to the life of crime. The death of a criminal should be a camera moment, which is why I prefer a coldblooded shooting by the police in the street. A police shooting of a criminal is spontaneous and this gives it the element of surprise. Most criminals die with awkward facial expressions and poses, this is the art factor. The art is further enhanced by the blood splattered on the canvas of the scene.  The death penalty lacks all these factors and that makes a police shooting a hallmark of art, justice and Drama. Sadly a lot of innocent people have been killed by the police so this method lacks precision.

I guess the Hangman is the last best hope. Kenya has not hanged anybody since the 1980s and It is time we employed a Hangman and bought a rope.

Why 1984 was not 1984...A tribute to Steve Jobs...

People spend fortunes on expensive watches, but time is the ultimate luxury. Time is what demarcates the most conclusive limit for man. Time is so imperceptible yet so indefatigably precious. Time unwinds so gracefully like a gentle stream down a timeless vent on the surface of the earth, but unlike a stream, time is never replenished. Time is God’s calibration of life, it’s the ultimate measurement. Time is the boundary between Man and infinity, the boundary between life and eternity. Time has no friends and it has no foes, Time is a silent master who never does his own bidding, Time assigns agents for its own purposes, birth is an agent of Time’s generosity and Death is the debt collector…

He bit an apple and he gave it to the world, the world loved him. He was Steve Jobs...Because of Steve, 1984, was Not 1984...

He bit an apple and he gave it to the world, the world loved him. He was Steve Jobs. He was as abrasive as he was charming. He was relentless in his ambition and uncompromising in his vision. He was innovative without restraint and he was a fighter with no apologies. For a long time he was the man who banged on doors, eventually many spent nights out in the cold waiting to hear him speak. They threw him out of Apple but eventually they brought him back and it was a glorious home run. Steve is the man who pioneered and conquered. His PC changed the world and it will never be the same again. He bit an apple and he gave it to the world, the world loved him. He was Steve Jobs.Because of Steve 1984 was not 1984 and it will always be remembered.

I am not the most competent Person to write a tribute to Steve Jobs, He was much greater than I am qualified to write about. He was much more than I could know. I want to say what endeared him to me so much. Apple is possibly iconic name in the IT industry. Apple is possibly the biggest comeback in corporate history, but Steve was much greater than Apple. Steve was great because he was resilient. Steve scaled other heights after being thrown out of Apple, He gave us Pixar and that was special. Pixar gave us Finding Nemo and Toy stories, stories that added beauty to our imaginations. That is what made Steve dear to me, he did everything with ornate beauty and that was his mark.

Now Steve has gone, time has claimed its debt but he has left a timeless mark. I am glad that Steve Jobs was in our lifetimes; at least we were alive at the same time with an icon of History. History is what time gives us. History is the gratitude of time to men who aspired and won. History is the bright constellation left by time for us to emulate. This is for Steve..This for Jobs.

Lord, save me from Myself.

I am writing this to the Lord God almighty, the ultimate authority to the living and the dead. This is my confession at his alter of divine and unrestricted grace. This is my petition, my submission in ultimate humility and my appeal to infinite mercy. Lord God, pardon my shortcomings, salvage me from the arrogance of my being and the stupidity of my convictions. Too often I have darkened my sight with pride and arrogance and gone far enough to insult your grace, I know too often I have denied your existence, ignored your conviction and insulted your character, Lord God, pardon my foolishness. Right now I am sound in my thought but soon I will be back to my usual self, I know very soon I will injure your grace, defile your expectations and ignite your wrath, very soon I know I will declare that you, The Lord God almighty is dead and I will testify that you are Obsolete, Lord God, save me from myself.

This is my petition, my submission in ultimate humility and my appeal to infinite mercy. Lord God, pardon my shortcomings, salvage me from the arrogance of my being and the stupidity of my convictions. Too often I have darkened my sight with pride and arrogance and gone far enough to insult your grace, I know too often I have denied your existence, ignored your conviction and insulted your character, Lord God, pardon my foolishness

Everyday I am compromised; everyday I substitute my principles for convenience. Everyday I trade my few virtues for many vices. Daily I extinguish your light and embrace my darkness. Lord God, save me from myself. Dear Lord, right now I am penitent and solemn in my thought but soon I will be horrible as usual. Lord grant me a purpose in life, guide me to a greater good. Exempt me from my current path of materialistic vanity and set me on a nobler path. Lord replenish your light in my sight, renovate my commitment to your goodness and restore your faith in my heart. Spare me from the conspiracies of evil, illuminate my path with your guidance, re-enforce my faith with your sovereign strength and recover me to your fold.

Lord redeem me with your grace, spare me from my weakness. Dear lord, extinguish the greed in my heart, arm me with Ambition rather than avarice, help me choose the narrow over the wide, the bright rather than the dark. Hold me in your bosom, chain me to your will and hold me to your truth. This is my prayer, in-eloquent but sincere, humble but deep, brief but conclusive. This here is my appeal.

Lord I fear, afraid your grace has departed eternally from my life, I fear I have fallen out of your grasp, I am worried that I am only fit for your wrath, I am afraid that my die has been cast, my case has been sealed and that I may be forever Lost.

"I love you Philip"… Stupid girl!!

What is love? Nothing else has been so central to the human society than the issue of Love. Centuries of Literature, Thousands of writers, thinkers, musicians and poets have venerated love so prolifically that it has become the center of human thought, music, art and literature. No other phenomenon has ever been so exhaustively examined than love, there never was a prolific writer who never wrote on Romance, there never was a beautiful song that was not about Love, Love was has been and has still been the centerpiece of human society.

Love is just a special effect to one of the impersonal processes of Nature. Love is a chemical reaction to get humans to copulate. Love is a catalyst to the process of making babies; there is nothing special behind it. Love is a cruel illusion of Nature; Love is the ultimate triumph of Evolution over Philosophy. Love is the testimony of Chemistry conquering biology

Many people long for the day they will fall in love, many people imagine the idyllic bliss of holding in affection. Love is the ultimate pacifier, it’s ecstatic as it is captivating. Nothing moves people more than the prospect of romance, people imagine that love is the purpose of their lives; they imagine walking in gentle gardens as the hold hands and stare into each others eyes in submission to the consuming pangs of affection. People imagine that there is a special person out there meant for them, people live life believing in soul mates and hoping that one day they will show up. Love is a combination of affection, serene setting and “special effects”. In love, the grass is greener, the sun is golden, the wind whispers, the moon smiles and the road to sapphire ignites on the calm waters of a gentle river. In love voices sound softer, birds sing slower and sunset lasts longer. In love the hills are gentler, embraces feel warmer and eyes look brighter, all those are just special effects.

Unfortunately Love is only special effects. Despite all the philosophy that thinkers have gossiped in the name of love, love is really a sad illusion. Love is the testimony of Chemistry conquering biology. Love is the submission of intellect to the timeless experience of Nature. There is nothing more, it is all just part of Natures course. Nature is a cruel host.

Love is the tragedy of man; it is the tragedy of man opposing Nature. It is the tragedy of man choosing culture over instinct. Nature never purposed for companionship. Companionship is not an economical process, look at the world, do animals ever form nuptials? Are there ceremonies to commemorate unions in the wild? This is not our economy, it is nature’s economy and Nature does Not bargain. As I said Nature is a cruel host, nature does not respect unions, Nature does not encourage company, Nature only seeks efficiency.
